How to setup a Christmas tree
Is setting up a Christmas tree with your family and friends something you look forward to all year? Weaving the ribbon, hanging the ornaments, and placing the presents can be the best part of the Christmas season.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the process of tree decorating, there are a few key things to keep in mind to make your Christmas tree look fabulous!
Decide on the best spot in your home: Before you set up your Christmas tree, decide where is the best spot for it to be placed. Consider factors such as the size of the room, the lighting, and the amount of space you have available.
Choose the best tree for you: Once you have decided on a spot in your home, choose a tree that will look great in that space. There are an array of different trees you can choose from. If you are looking for an artificial tree, you may consider purchasing a prelit tree so you don’t have to purchase or hang your own lights. You may also choose to purchase a tree with frosted tips and a dark green hue (there are a lot of different shades of trees to choose from). Or, maybe you are more interested in a real tree. If so, make sure it is a fresh tree and you have a broom handy (real trees tend to shed their leaves). Whichever tree you choose, make sure it’s the best size for the spot you’ve chosen.
Put the tree together: If you have an artificial tree, assemble it according to the instructions provided. Ensure that all the branches are in place and that the tree is stable (having a stable base is really important). If you have a real tree, make sure that the trunk is cut at an angle to allow for the best water absorption.
Stable the base of the tree: Once your tree is put together, make sure the base of the tree is secure. The last thing you want is a wobbly tree! If you have a real tree, make sure that it is placed in a sturdy stand that can hold water. If you have an artificial tree, make sure that its base is stable on the floor or lean the tree against a wall to prevent it from toppling over.
Hang your lights: If you purchased a prelit tree, you can skip this step. Once your tree is set up and stable, hang lights on your tree with your family! Start at the base of the tree and work your way up, making sure to evenly distribute the lights. As you place the lights, weave them around the branches and throughout the tree. When you step back from the tree, the lights should look beautiful, sparkly, and evenly placed!
Hang ornaments and decorations: Once your lights in are in place, hang ornaments and decorations on your branches. Be creative and have fun with this step! It may help to alternate between hanging your ornaments and taking a step back to see your work. That way, you can adjust the spacing based on the color, shape, and size of your ornaments.
Place a Topper: To finalize the complete look of your tree and add a touch of sparkle, you can place a tree topper on the very top of your tree. This could be a star, an angel, a bow, or another design. Gather the family and celebrate this last step together!
You are done! Pause and admire: You have hung your ornaments with care and worked with your family to create something beautiful. Take a step back, take a selfie, and appreciate your beautiful creation. Now would be a great time to make some hot coco and turn on a Christmas movie!
Setting up a Christmas tree is such a wonderful part of the Christmas season. There’s nothing quite like this time with your family and loved ones as you work together to create something beautiful. By following these simple steps and adding your personal touch, you can decorate a Christmas tree that brings a smile to your face every time you walk in the room. Make something beautiful, have fun, and enjoy this time with those closest to you!
