How to decorate a Christmas tree with ribbon
Wrapping your Christmas tree with ribbon is a wonderful way to add dimension, color, and vibrancy to your home. There are many different ways to hang ribbon on your Christmas tree. Before you get started, it will be helpful to read over some tips below:
Pick the best ribbon: Before you begin decorating, choose a ribbon pattern and color that coordinates with your ornaments. Also make sure to choose a ribbon that is the right size for your tree (a taller tree will need more ribbon). If you purchased one of our Christmas Crates, we chose ribbons that compliment the style of the crate design best (the O Christmas Tree Christmas Crate is shown in the picture to the left).
Decide on a ribbon style: There are many different ways to style ribbon on your Christmas tree. Choose one that will compliment your design (a waterfall technique is shown in the picture).
Measure the ribbon: Once you decide on a ribbon and a ribbon style, measure the amount of ribbon your will need for your tree. Make sure you have enough ribbon to complete the style you’ve chosen (for example, some designs include bows or drapes).
Begin at the top of the tree: For almost all ribbon styles, you will begin draping the ribbon at the top of your tree. As you work your way down, be sure to evenly distribute the ribbon. It may be helpful to occasionally take a step back and check your progress. Tip: it’s helpful to tuck some of the ribbon behind branches so it remains in place.
Add optional designs to the ribbon: Depending on the ribbon style you’ve chosen, you may wish to add some bows or drapes to the ribbon. For the ribbons, you may like to use a different ribbon to add a pop of color.
Hang your ornaments: Once you are happy with the placement of the ribbon, hang ornaments on your tree. It’s helpful to place ornaments in contrast with each other (for example, balance color, size, and design of ornaments on opposite sides of the tree).
